Gibraltar! What a famous and also dangerous airport… That was an easy decision where to go to from Nizza. I personally habe never been in Gibraltar before so I was excited to visit the airport for the first time. After take off from Nizza I passed St. Tropez and headed out to the ocean direct to the island of Mallorca in Spain. This island is very famous in Europe and literally belongs to Germany, as so many Germans are going there for vacation. The island itself is pretty big and has a wonderful landscapes, but is has also areas which you don’t wanna be at certain times of the year. After Mallorca I headed directly to the island of Ibiza, which is one of Europe’s most famous party-islands. It’s way smaller than Mallorca and unfortunately the weather got worse and worse while flying over Ibiza.
During a long time of the flight, the sky was covered with a thick layer of clouds and therefore I couldn’t see the ground at all. After leaving Spain and enterimg Portigal about 50 miles inbound Malaga, the cloud cover got less and I started to see scenery again. After flying over Malaga the final approach to Gibraltar startet. Funnily enough there were two cloud layers preventing any sight to anywhere. One high above me and the other down to about 2.500 ft. AGL. Nevertheless the landing in Gibraltar was successful without any severs gusts or other weather drama. So, welcome to Gibraltar!
